Cape Town celebrates World Biodiversity Day 2011

In celebration of World Biodiversity Day and our unique and irreplaceable biodiversity, the City of Cape Town will be hosting various Youth Environmental School (YES) programmes during the month of May. Sanctioned by the United Nations, International Day for Biological Diversity is held every year on 22 May to raise public and political awareness of the significance of biodiversity for human well-being. 2011 has also been declared the International Year of Biodiversity, adding special significance to this year’s celebrations.
