African Responsible Tourism Awards 2019 (#ARTA19)
April 10 @ 4:45 pm - 5:30 pm
The African Responsible Tourism Awards were established in 2014 to celebrate and inspire change in the African tourism industry. The awards rest on a simple principle – that all types of tourism, from niche to mainstream, can and should be organised in a way that preserves, respects and benefits destinations and local people.
The ambition of the awards is to showcase great examples of responsible tourism in practice and to use them to educate others about what can be achieved, and to challenge others to do as well or better. The winners are announced each year at a ceremony at WTM Africa.
The awards opens for nominations and applications in September 2018. Cape Town has a very strong showing at the awards. Since the first awards in 2015, the total count of Cape Town wins at the African Responsible Tourism Awards is nine awards. We encourage Cape Town tourism organisations to enter the awards to keep up the profile of Cape Town as a responsible tourism destination.
