UNWTO is running a campaign called #travelenjoyrespect to encourage responsible travel. This is part of the International Year for Sustainable Tourism for Development, but this campaign is targeted towards tourists instead of government and business.

Here in Cape Town, we’re having a Twitterchat on Tourism Day, 27 September at 10:00am for tourism players to share their views on how Cape Town should encourage its visitors to travel responsibly.

The aim of the Twitterchat is to:

  • Find ways that visitors to Cape Town can enjoy their stay without cost to the City, its environment and its people
  • Think of ways we can encourage visitors to behave the right way
  • Think of ways we can help tourists behave the right way
  • Join the global #travelenjoyrespect conversation encouraging tourists to travel responsibly

Please join our #travelenjoyrespectCPT Twitterchat. If you would like to co-host, please contact Sadia at editor@responsiblecapetown.co.za

The Twitterchat will be hosted by @respCPT. We will post 4 questions, with 15 minutes allocated for each.

10:00 – @respCPT will welcome co-hosts and other participants to the Twitterchat

10:02 – Q1: What should we encourage visitors to do to #travelenjoyrespectCPT?

10:15 – Q2: What should we encourage visitors not to do if they’re to #travelenjoyrespectCPT?

10:30 – Q3: What can businesses do to make it easy for tourists to #travelenjoyrespectCPT?

10:45 – Q4: How should we encourage visitors to #travelenjoyrespectCPT?

11:00 – @respCPT will thank the participants and close-out the Twitterchat
