African Responsible Tourism Awards


What is the award for?

With its unique natural and cultural landscapes, Africa offers many opportunities for responsible tourism. Tourism organisations are already growing tourism that preserves, respects and benefits African destinations and African people. The African Responsible Tourism Awards aims to celebrate the efforts made by individuals, organisations and destinations in Africa. The  awards also aim to inspire change in the African tourism industry.

The African Responsible Tourism Awards was launched in 2015 and winners are automatically entered into the World Responsible Tourism Awards.

Energy Efficiency Forum Awards

The Energy Efficiency Forum Awards aims to commend excellence in energy efficiency in in Cape Town, in recognition of the great lengths businesses have gone to to improve the energy efficiency of their commercial buildings and operations, which helps to improve energy security and affordability and lower Cape Town’s carbon footprint. The Energy Efficiency Forum partners aim to recognise those achievers who are leading in this sector, and to encourage businesses to continue reducing their energy consumption.

Applications are judged on their implementation of significant energy efficiency interventions, including both technological improvements and behaviour change, which have resulted in substantial reductions in energy consumption and are likely to be sustainable. Entries are judged by University of Cape Town’s Energy Research Centre.

What are the categories?

  1. Successful retrofit project in EXISTING SMALL building/operations
  2. Successful retrofit project in EXISTING LARGE building/operations
  3.  NEW building/ operation, either large or small

Who can apply?

  • Registered members of Cape Town’s Energy Efficiency Forum for the Commercial Sector
  • The building or operation being located in the Cape Town metro area
  • Interventions or projects commissioned within the last two years

Previous EE Forum Awards winners may not re-enter for five years. The size of the operation is not a determining factor in the assessment of the application – both large and small concerns are encouraged to apply.

WTTC Tourism for Tomorrow


What is the award for?

The WTTC Tourism for Tomorrow Awards recognises best practice in sustainable tourism within the industry globally, based upon the principles of environmentally friendly operations; support for the protection of cultural and natural heritage; and direct benefits to the social and economic well-being of local people in travel destinations around the world.

IMEX-GMIC Green Awards


What is the award for?

The IMEX-GMIC Green Awards are jointly run with GMIC (Green Meeting Industry Council). The awards recognise organisations within the meetings and incentive travel industry that are making an effort to minimise their environmental and social impacts.

Nominations are open to anyone involved in meetings, incentive programmes, conferences, associations or business projects.

What is the award for?

  • Country Awards: The country awards reflect the range of products and service offerings of an individual country’s travel and tourism industry.
  • World Awards: The World awards are the top tier of the WTA programme and features the winners from the regional tier. Nominees have a proven pedigree of being the world’s best.

What is the award for?

Skål International Ecotourism Awards


What is the award for?
